Preamble

Owing to Gandhiji’s repeated exhortation and the Fundamental Rights Resolution of the Indian National Congress (1931), ‘Equality of Sexes’ was mandated in the Preamble, Fundamental Rights and the Directive Principles of the Constitution. The aim was to remove existing inequality between sexes to achieve equality. Development and/or empowerment of women has been a process to realize that national goal.
