Scott Kim and I played telephone tag for several weeks before we finally made connections, to arrange to talk about the computer as a tool for the visual artist. Like John Chowning, Kim asked me to attend a presentation first before we talked, in this case a lecture he is to give at Stanford to an introductory class in mechanical engineering on the subject of creativity and visual thinking.
Kim’s lecture is to be given in a hall named in memory of Fred Terman. The building is a fitting tribute indeed to a man whose eye for detail searched out the secret techniques of Finnish javelin throwers.
