About the authors

Kerry Brown is Senior Fellow on the Asia Programme at Chatham House. He previously worked as a diplomat for the FCO, serving in London and Beijing. He is the author of The Purge of the Inner Mongolian People’s Party in the Cultural Revolution in China 1967–1969 (Global Oriental), Struggling Giant: China in the 21st Century (Anthem), The Rise of the Dragon: Chinese Inward and Outward Investment Flows in the Reform Period (Chandos), Friends and Enemies: The Past, Present and Future of the Communist Party of China (Anthem) and Ballot Box China (Zed). He is currently working on a biography of Hu Jintao.
