What’s in a JavaScript framework?

Many of the most popular JavaScript frameworks were created in 2009 and 2010. This was a time marked by an intense interest in JavaScript due to several factors. There was a rising adoption of HTML5, whose first working draft was published in 2008. There was also an increase of popularity in jQuery, along with the rise of the web application. Full-fledged software applications were being built for the web, and it was an exciting time to be a web developer.
