Time for action – extruding polygons

In this section, we'll explore how to create a modern, single-piece desk by pushing and pulling, or extruding polygons from a cube. Similar to how we created a desk the first time around, we'll begin by creating a cube for our tabletop, then work on the legs.

  1. Let's create a cube. The scale of the room we've created might call for something slightly larger than what we had before, so let's make our cube 150 cm x 8 cm x 90 cm, and change its position to 60 cm.
  2. Change the segment values for X and Z to 3. Leave Y at 1.
  3. Click on the Convert icon at the top-left corner of the screen, or press C on your keyboard. This converts our object from parametric to polygon.
