Traceroute Shows Some Hops, But Fails

This chapter’s sixth different troubleshooting scenario now moves away from the host and toward the routers, leading toward IPv6 routing issues.

In this case, the engineer hears that a host cannot connect to a server. Clearly, a ping from the host to the server fails, so the engineer does several of the steps discussed already in this chapter:

Image The host IPv6 settings look good.

Image The host IPv6 settings match the default router and DNS server as they should.

The host can ping its default router.
