The Cisco Unity Solution

Being a UMS component of IP Communications solutions from Cisco, Unity is primarily aimed at environments with IP Telephony, not Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) deployments. As mentioned in Chapter 8, “IP Telephony Solutions,” Unity integrates with CallManager and is part of the ICS 7750 solution. Several models from within the 7800 series of Cisco Media Convergence Server (MCS) solutions also support Unity deployment. However, because Unity does integrate with circuit-switched phone systems as well, it can be deployed in IP-only, circuit-switched–only, or mixed telephony environments.
