With unified messaging, the complexity diminishes because it is not necessary to build a
dedicated infrastructure for Unity to reside. Instead, it is necessary to prepare the existing
messaging infrastructure for unified messaging. For more information on preparing an
existing environment for unified messaging, see Chapter 9,“Planning.”
If unified messaging is desired right from the beginning, each Unity server will be designed
and installed using one of the deployment models defined in this chapter.
