In addition to call control functions, the line object handles media operations that are
specific to a line or port. The most obvious examples are playing and recording audio.
Just as a MIU client requests call-control or media operations for a call, the call object
delegates control to its line object (each call object has a pointer back to a line object), and
MIU clients do not operate directly on the line object. The implementation of the line object
depends on the underlying telephony API, but the job of the line object from system to
system is the same.
