In the following exercises, you apply what you’ve learned in this chapter. The answers for these exercises are located in the Answers section at the end of this chapter.

Exercise 10-1

A four-disk RAID 5 array is being used to store important information. In Table 10-2, the Disk 1 data is missing from the RAID 5 array due to a disk failure. Using even parity, calculate the missing data by adding the missing bit for Disk 1, either a 0 or a 1, so that when adding all 4 bits on each stripe (horizontal), the answer is an even number (0, 2, 4). Note that the missing parity information on Disk 1 is in the third stripe and does not need to be calculated during the read function.
