From that first night, when we decided to undo a deal we so desperately wanted to make, to the heights of the 2005 bubble, Clients First had been a two word miracle. It made everything easier. Our team believed in Clients First, and our business had grown exponentially. Every morning the bad news would come over the fax, in the mail, via e-mail, or on the phone. A prominent lender committed suicide, reminiscent of the crash of 1929. A major real estate brokerage closed 14 offices. I personally heard of a once-successful agent selling blood to make her mortgage payment. Bankruptcies occurred everywhere. Custom builders were abandoning partially constructed homes.
