12 Steve: The Smartest Guy in the Room

Mr. Philippe Grall has coached corporate CEOs for more than 5,000 hours, and he has trained leadership teams in companies more than 1,000 times by using his original concept of the inner diamond. Mr. Philippe Grall mainly contributes to leadership improvement and human resource development for famous international organizations, such as L’Oreal, LVMH, Amgen, Richemont Group, etc.

Steve was head of the oncology department at an established pharmaceutical company. For many who knew him, he was at the top of his game.

Steve got an offer to become the president of a global biotech company in Japan. This new role gave Steve much more responsibility. It was his first time in a CEO role. His new company was much more dysfunctional, with the wrong people in many key leadership roles. Everywhere Steve looked, he said, there were “100 things that could be better.”

About six months in, his boss pulled him aside. “Steve,” he said, “You’ve succeeded in everything you’ve done in your life, and you’ve had to work hard for that. But for you become a truly successful President of this organization, some of the behaviors that you’re exhibiting are working against you.”

It was then that Steve decided to contact me to be his coach.
