8.3. Coaching Moments

Coaching moments can happen in two minutes or less. They are quick coaching conversations that reinforce, validate, celebrate, redirect, or revisit a previous coaching conversation topic. Most often, the coach brings the why to the coaching moment conversation. Occasionally it is the PBC. Think of a time when someone asked you a question that you could have turned into a coaching moment.

There are two coaching moment examples that follow. The first is a redirection of an employee by his boss. The second is a validation and celebration of improved performance based on a previous coaching conversation. In both, the coach brings the why to the conversation.
