We once heard a speech coach say that the three most important speeches for a student to study were not Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address,” Winston Churchill’s “Blood, Sweat, and Tears” or Marc Antony’s “Friends, Romans, Countrymen” speeches. His belief was that the most important speeches to study were the last speech the student planned to give, compared and contrasted with the speech he or she actually gave, compared and contrasted with the speech he or she would give if he or she could give the speech over again.
