Personality Traits and Coffee Intake

Abstract

Personality traits such as novelty seeking, impulsivity, and sensation seeking often are related with the use and abuse of and dependence on psychoactive drugs. In the case of coffee and caffeine consumption, some studies indeed show that these traits are more pronounced in those who consume a large amount of caffeine, but the studies fail to evaluate different sources of caffeine and to control for smoking.
