Throughout the book, we have examined the human element indirectly, but now we need to take a deep dive to further clarify and explain what is meant by the human element, human factors, and the attributes of human factor risks that lead to errors in judgment in organizations from corporate governance down to errors on the shop floor and cubicle alike. Not surprisingly, the term human element is more complex than anticipated. When the term human element is used, we instinctively know we are talking about people, but what does this really mean?
