Chapter Five Displays and Interaction Routines for Enhanced Weapons Direction
This chapter describes research focusing on the design, development, prototyping, and evaluation of changes to the interface and interaction routines that weapons directors experience as they manage military air traffic in peacetime and during conditions of high threat, short time, and surprise.
The challenge was to identify, define, and validate a set of requirements that together comprise the weapons direction process. We undertook a detailed analysis of the weapons direction (WD) process and prioritized a set of requirements that we felt would enhance human performance.
