Dave awoke early Monday morning with Dee in his arms. His first thought was how much he wished he could protect her. It felt terrible to have no power over what was to come.
Beattie and Dave grabbed a quick breakfast before they all left for the hospital. Even though the biopsy was outpatient surgery, Dee was prohibited from eating beforehand.
Seeing a hospital employee standing near the curb, Dave pulled up in front of the hospital entrance. “My wife is here for an outpatient procedure. Could you please tell me where I should park?” he asked the man.
“Glad you stopped. I’ll take your bride in right now to meet our concierge. You can park wherever you’d like and then meet her on the third floor in the outpatient area.”
