The collaboration toolkit presented in this section provides a set of fundamental techniques and practices for building highly participatory team interactions in meetings of all sizes and shapes, with a variety of purposes and any number of outcomes. I have relied on these collaboration guidelines in my work as a project manager, as a consultant, and as a facilitator for all sizes of teams. In small team contexts, I learned that once I became adept at applying a strict set of rules around collaboration, I was able to relax the amount of planning and formality and rely instead on my instincts.
