Chapter 12

On the Verge of the Plateau

Epilogue

Abstract

This chapter, the book’s epilogue, offers a closure of the discussion in both parts of the book, coming full circle back to the issues mentioned in the introduction and throughout the book. Additionally, prospects for related research topics, which are outside the book’s scope, are sketched. Such research topics are, to name a few: digital “waste disposal” labor, shaming, resistance within social media platforms and their communities, and challenges of digital democracy and socially adapting to new forms of communication.
