Dye types and application methods

Abstract:

The chapter gives an overview of commercial dyeing methods, covering the main dyestuff classes and fibre groups. The chapter opens with an introduction to the industry, then discusses dye selection and the preparation and dyeing of cellulosic, protein, polyamide, polyester and acrylic fibres with direct, reactive, vat, sulphur, azoic, acid, metal-complex, mordant, disperse and cationic dyes. Dyeing machinery is described, and the conclusion discusses future challenges.
