Coal Combustion Technologies

Abstract

A study of the primary energy demand and the reserves of fossil fuels worldwide shows that coal has the biggest proven reserves among the fossil fuels, and it is uniformly distributed throughout the world, thus predefining its important role in the energy mix of the future.

The existing state-of-the-art coal combustion technologies are reviewed in this chapter, with special attention given to the clean coal technologies (CCT) leading to significant reduction of the emissions from pulverised coal firing.
