Chapter 16. KJ Analysis

Upon conclusion of the customer interview process, the commercialization team must evaluate and analyze the interview results. Data collected from customer interviews are not numeric but in the form of word data. Given the nature of the data, traditional analytical methods such as modeling and statistics are not useful in analyzing the information obtained from interviews. To analyze the word data obtained, we introduce a new tool—the KJ Analysis. Detailed examples of an Image KJ Analysis and a Requirements KJ Analysis are presented in the candy wrapper film (CWF) case study accompanying this text.
