First of all, I must acknowledge all of the assistance provided me in the preparation of this book by Carlos Sanchez, the chief research analyst at my company, CPM Group. Carlos has been with me since the cold winter of 1999. I have put him through many paces, as he has had to deal with my distractions and sometimes nonlinear ways of thinking. He has succeeded in becoming one of the most knowledgeable persons in the world on commodities statistics and analysis, and works closely as my right-hand man. Not only did he help immeasurably with the work that went into this book, but he picked up enormous volumes of slack at our company while I focused on writing it.

Catherine Virga is an excellent research analyst. She has helped with the specific development of the statistics and analysis in this book more than anyone else, and has provided an organizational coherence when I became overwhelmed with the sheer volume of information we were seeking to distill into this book.

In addition to Catherine and Carlos, many others at CPM Group have helped out in a range of ways. Lennys Ramos is our administrator. Like Carlos, she has picked up a large number of responsibilities from me, allowing me to focus more on this book.
