Communication Buses for SoC Architectures 55
Transaction Protocol-level interface to IP cores. They defined different Vir-
tual Component interfaces (VCI): the BVCI (basic VCI), the PVCI (peripheral
VCI), and AVCI (advanced VCI). These standards were not complete. They
addressed only data flow, not issues of test and control.
The On-Chip Bus (OCB) documents (OCB 1 2.0 and OCB 2 2.0) are early
bus specifications and standards developed at VSIA, describing the On-Chip
Bus Attributes Specification and the Virtual Component Interface Standard.
VSIA also developed an international standard, the Quality Intellectual
Property (QIP) Metric for measuring Semiconductor Intellectual Property
(SIP) quality and examining the practices used to design, integrate, and sup- ...
