Basics of communications
Abstract
This chapter provides a brief introduction to the basics of communications, for the benefit of readers without a background in communications. Information theory and different layers in communication networks, ranging from the physical layer to upper layers, will be introduced. Finally, several typical communication systems will be discussed as examples.
