Appendix ECHECKLIST FOR PRESENTATIONS

This appendix is intended as a guide for writing and delivering presentations based on the information found in chapters 7 and 8.

PLANNING

  • What is your purpose?

  • What is your topic?

  • Who is your audience?

  • Why should your audience care what you have to say?

  • How knowledgeable is your audience about the topic of your presentation?

  • Who are the influencers in your audience?

  • What are the circumstances of your presentation? (Number of people in audience, size of meeting room, time of presentation, seating, lighting and so on)

WRITING AND DESIGNING

  • What is your theme?

  • What type of introduction will you give?

  • What are your key messages and support arguments?

  • How will you conclude?

DESIGN

  • What visuals will you use? (Flip chart, whiteboard, projector, decks, slides)

  • What mix of text, pictures and charts will you use?

  • How many slides will you have?

  • What design elements will you use?

PREPARATION

  • Review presentation

PRESENTATION

FOLLOW UP

  • Review video of your presentation (if one is available)
