Swedishness
As I’ve mentioned, Spotify is a Swedish-based company. Founded in 2006 in Stockholm, Sweden, Spotify has grown to be one of those rare non–North American unicorns with offices now in over fifty-eight countries around the world. And while Spotify competes now with the likes of Apple, Amazon, and Google, it has its own unique brand and culture.
In this section, I’d like to share with you what working for a Swedish-based company looks like, how its culture is slightly different from what we are used to in North America, and the impact that has in the workplace.
