Chapter 1. Taking the Wheel

You may not need to know precisely how a car works to drive it properly, but you do need to know how to shift gears, read the speedometer, and turn on the windshield wipers. While you’re at it, you might as well take a look around and find the emergency brake and hazard lights just in case. That’s the idea here: I’ll describe a brief overview of some basic controls necessary to any Finale user, but especially to composers. These skills should become second nature so you can focus on your composition rather than on Finale.
