Writing for guitar is no different from writing for any other instrument, except most guitarists can’t read music very well. So, we have this elaborate fingering-chart-notation hybrid called tablature. In reality, the physical appearance of fretted instruments happens to resemble staff lines, so adding a logical fingering guide beneath the staff makes a lot of sense, especially considering things like bends, hammer-ons, and so on.
