Chapter 17. Approaching Structure

Aclear understanding of structure is a vital prerequisite to the successful composition of a music track. This is because structure concerns the way in which your musical material is organized and presented in time. Viewing any piece of music as a whole, it is fairly obvious that the whole itself is composed of many parts. Each of these parts is called a section, and the piece as a whole is composed of many such sections. Each section, in turn, is made up of numerous other smaller structural parts, such as musical themes and phrases. All of these considered together represent the structure of the music.
