Okay—before I move on to wireless installations, take at look at Figure 12.6, which lists the years each standard was ratified, the frequency of each, the number of non-overlapping channels, the physical layer transmission technique and the data rates for each of the IEEE standards in use today.

I mentioned earlier that 802.11b runs DSSS, whereas 802.11g and 802.11a both run the OFDM modulation technique. Let's take a closer look at these different modulation techniques used in today's networks.
