Green information technology (IT) refers to steps IT professionals can take to protect the environment. In addition to being good for the environment, employing various green IT methodologies can often reduce costs for an organization, too. For example, reducing power and air conditioning requirements results in burning less fossil fuel and reduces the amount of carbon dioxide released into the air. It also results in lower power bills.
