38 Computational Neuroscience: Simulated Demyelinating Neuropathies and Neuronopathies
ALS subtypes. Compared to the normal case, action potentials are
with reduced amplitudes for the systematic demyelinations. They
are near normal in all ALS cases, where the reduced amplitudes
are negligible. Conduction velocities, calculated from the times of
the potential maxima at the nodes are 58, 31, 45 and 25 m/s for
the normal, ISD, PSD and PISD cases, respectively. They are 50,
51 and 51 m/s for the ALS1, ALS2 and ALS3 cases, respectively.
Amplitudes are 18, 21 and 9 mV for the systematically demyelinated
cases, respectively; and are 35, 35, 35 mV for the three ALS cases,
respectively. The amplitude of the normal action potential is 38 mV.
