Charting
in Excel
A
chart is a visual presentation of data. Most of us are good
at seeing relationships or trends in charts; only a few of
us have a similar capability for numbers. Charts are also
called graphs; the difference in usage of the terms lies primarily
with the users. People in business and allied fields prefer charts as
the term; graph is favored by scientists and engineers. Irrespective
of the field, charts are useful to summarize data for understanding
and communication purposes, and it is not surprising that Excel
provides capabilities to create a wide variety of charts. In this
chapter, we will look at some major c
