The Four Steps to Resolution: It Really Is This Simple
In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, we have a helpful perspective of high percentage moves and low percentage moves. It’s another way of saying this defense or attack will be more likely to be successful or less likely. It helps me move from more black and white thinking of “this works” or “this doesn’t work.”
Additionally, it allows for a perspective that a move doesn’t need to work entirely. I may not completely escape from someone. I may not complete a submission. It can be sufficient if it just improves my position. In fact, the more experienced someone is, the more prepared they are to make a chain of attempts until they complete their goal.
