Electrical conductivity

This is important in insulators; for example, slate slab is used for electrical switchboard mountings because of its electrical resistance. But it is also especially significant in metals because different metals have different electrical conductivity properties and rusting may result if they touch; therefore they should be separated by an inert buffer. Thus, a fundamental facet of designing with metals is: avoid non-compatible metals touching.
