Application of paints

Paint can be applied as a solid powder, an aerosol, or a liquid. Powder-coated paint is largely used in car and industrial applications. The paint powder is “baked” once applied, and this melts and sticks the paint onto the surface. Aerosol application, or “spray painting,” involves an atomized gas being suspended under pressure, thus giving an very even application of the paint; the solvent usually binds the pigment and the surface of the substrate or material to be painted. Liquid paints may be applied by paint roller on flat surfaces or by brush.
