3Computer-Generated Holography
3.1 INTRODUCTION
A conventional hologram is produced by recording the interference pattern of an object and reference beam. In computer generated holography, the object need not exist and it is enough if the object is known in mathematical form. The idea was first proposed by Adolf Lohmann[18] and later many others[19-21] have contributed significantly to computer generated hologram. The computer-generated holograms are binary as they consist of many transparent dots on an opaque background. The binary character of computer holograms facilitate their reconstruction in real sense.
