Central Institute of Education: A Profile

Central Institute of Education (CIE), now also, known, as the Faculty and the Department of Education of the University of Delhi, was, perhaps, the first major institution of professional learning and research in education that was established since Independence. The first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, and the first Education Minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, took considerable interest in CIE’s establishment in 1947 and its activities and progress in those early years.
