Abstract
Intelligent transportation systems (ITSs) have provided various transportation services to air, rail, road, and sea-based systems in the transportation environment. ITS aims to deliver dependable data access, seamless Internet connectivity, emergency notifications, and other protocol information communicated via pole infrastructure-based roadside units (RSUs). However, as the change in the mode of communication and environmental situation increases drastically, the RSUs operate under a heavy burden to deliver the information on time. This paper proposes a programmable trackless tram-roadside unit (TRAM-RSU) framework in every RSU agent, also known as tram nodes, to communicate with vehicular nodes in the transportation environment. The TRAM-RSU framework has two functional subsystems: (1) network connectivity determines vehicular node physical characteristics and network connectivity status at various instants Ti. In addition, (2) the packet-label classifier is used to differentiate the incoming data packet service request based on their multiprotocol label switching header labels. The performance of the TRAM-RSU ...
