Optimal formation control of multiple UAVs
Abstract
Formation control is concerned with designing a centralized or decentralized controller that drives all the agents to achieve a desired formation. It has the widest application among cooperative missions. For instance, in the deep-space interferometry mission, multiple spacecraft flying in formation could offer a tremendously larger synthetic aperture to increase the imaging resolution. A team of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) cooperatively search an area of interest that contains regions of opportunity or regions of potential hazard.
