6 Berkshire Hathaway

Berkshire Hathaway was established as a result of a series of mergers over the last century. Mergers began in 1923 between a textile company, Valley Falls in Rhode Island, founded in 1839, with the Berkshire Cotton Company in Adams, Massachusetts, which was founded in 1889. This merger resulted in the Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates. In 1955, the Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates merged with the Hathaway Manufacturing Company, which was founded in 1888 in New Bedford, Massachusetts (Warren Buffett Archive, 2022). From then onward, the Berkshire Hathaway we know today was established.
