Norah slumped onto the sofa, her eyes red from a day of tears. Attending her mother’s funeral had been one of the most difficult experiences of her life. Jeremy settled down next to her and put an arm around her. It was more than twenty years since his mother had passed away, but he was still in touch with the grief.
“I guess it’s us next,” said Norah.
Jeremy resisted replying. Now was not the time.
The last two years had brought immense change for Norah and Jeremy. It began when both their fathers had passed away unexpectedly within five weeks of each other.
