Microsoft Excel is a full-featured spreadsheet program that you can use to build worksheets and charts like the ones you’ll create with this book.
As you work with Excel, you’ll see that it has some of the same interface elements you’re familiar with from using your other Windows programs: windows, menus, dialogs, and buttons. It also has a bunch of new interface elements Microsoft developed for Microsoft Office 2007 programs: the Ribbon with its tabs, groups, and commands.
In this chapter, I introduce you to Excel’s interface elements and tell you about the techniques you’ll need to know to use Excel. If this project is your first hands-on experience with Excel or your computer, be sure to read through this chapter!
