FABRIC
When choosing fabric, look for a smooth cotton that has a tight weave and isn’t too thick. The thread colors used in this book’s patterns are best suited to white or light color fabrics.
Backing your embroidery fabric is optional, but tacking a piece of cotton voile or finely woven muslin fabric to the back helps stabilize your stitching and gives you the option of starting (and ending) new threads with a small double stitch through the backing fabric only.
