Pick Four Photos, Create One Painting

“Pick Four” is not a lottery game; it’s just a little trick I use to inspire myself. As artists, we all have those moments when confronted with a blank sheet of paper and not a single idea about what to draw on it. As we all often do, I end up wasting hours of time perusing and discarding every research photo I own. Nothing is ever quite right and that perfect composition doesn’t seem to exist.

So to get started, I go to my photo file and randomly, without looking, select four photos. Why four? It just seems like a nice number.
