Paint a Subject That’s New to You

Usually I have so many projects in my head that I am thinking about the next one halfway through the one I am working on. But occasionally I get into a slump of “I want to paint but I don’t know what.” Worse yet, sometimes I paint several exciting subjects in a row that just don’t come out very good.

The only way out of a slump is to challenge myself. I chose this scene of these three glasses in Eugene’s Pub in Ennistymon, County Clare, Ireland, because I had never done anything remotely like this. Frankly, I found it terrifying!
