When my husband took up fiction writing, he read a lot of books about how to become a writer, and I read them too. Several of these books offered one piece of essential advice: figure out a way to let the whole story flow out before you edit or critique what you’ve written. Do not stop to reread, edit or pick at your pages until the first draft is completely finished.
