Tackle a Difficult Subject

Recently while thinking about what I might do to improve my work, it occurred to me that I should quit procrastinating and attempt one of the subjects that most intimidated me. For example, scenes that involve close-ups of the human figure have always been intimidating. Although I like doing buildings and street scenes, I have generally avoided human figures in the foreground because I can’t stand a drawing that is not quite right. If you make many corrections working in pastel, you lose the freshness and often create a messy muddle. When I included people, they were very small and required nothing but simple shapes.
